Wike Rejects APC Overtures, Reaffirms Commitment to PDP Ahead of 2027 Elections
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), dismissing any possibility of defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on his political position, Wike disclosed that he had made his stance clear during a conversation with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing that he has no intention of leaving the PDP despite ongoing political realignments.

According to him, his decision is rooted in a strong sense of party loyalty and a commitment to the ideals and legacy of the PDP.

Wike further noted that his primary concern is not merely party affiliation, but whether the PDP is adequately structured, united, and strategically positioned to mount a credible challenge in the 2027 elections.

He stressed the importance of internal cohesion, effective leadership, and clear policy direction as critical factors that will determine the party’s competitiveness in the next electoral cycle.

The former governor also highlighted the need for the PDP to address lingering internal issues and strengthen its grassroots support base if it hopes to regain political dominance at the national level.

He called on party stakeholders to prioritize unity and strategic planning over factional interests.
Wike’s remarks come amid ongoing political discussions and speculation about possible defections and alliances as key actors begin to position themselves ahead of 2027.

His firm declaration is likely to influence internal dynamics within the PDP and shape broader conversations about opposition readiness in Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
