The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially refuted widespread claims suggesting that a group of travellers reportedly kidnapped in Benue State were candidates scheduled to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In a formal statement, the Board clarified that there is no evidence linking the abducted individuals to the ongoing UTME exercise.

JAMB emphasized that the misinformation circulating across various platforms is misleading and has the potential to cause unnecessary panic among candidates, parents, and the general public.

The examination body reassured stakeholders that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the UTME nationwide.

It further urged the public to rely only on verified information from official sources and to refrain from spreading unconfirmed reports, particularly on sensitive matters involving public safety and national examinations.
