The ongoing political alignments and realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections have continued to generate considerable interest and speculation within Nigeria’s political landscape.

Notably, there appears to be a conspicuous silence from several prominent founding figures and influential stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC),

A development that raises important questions about internal party dynamics and future electoral strategies.

A number of key political figures who played significant roles in the formation and consolidation of the APC have remained largely absent from current political discourse.

Personalities such as Rochas Okorocha, Chris Ngige, Babatunde Fashola, Chimaroke Nnamani, Iyiola Omisore, Ibrahim Shekarau, and Andy Uba have not been visibly active or vocal regarding the forthcoming elections.

Their relative quietness is particularly striking given their historical influence, political experience, and established roles within the party structure.

Traditionally, figures of this stature would be expected to contribute to shaping party narratives, mobilizing support, and reinforcing unity—especially as the party prepares for a crucial electoral cycle.

Since the assumption of office by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, many of these leaders appear to have taken a step back from frontline political engagement. Their lack of visible participation in advocacy, policy discussions, or campaign-related activities connected to the administration’s re-election prospects has not gone unnoticed.

This has inevitably led to speculation among political observers about possible underlying factors, including internal disagreements, strategic recalibration, or personal political considerations.

While it is not uncommon for politicians to adopt a low profile at certain phases of the political cycle,

The collective silence of such a significant group of party stalwarts introduces an element of uncertainty.

It also raises concerns about the possibility of last-minute political shifts, including defections or realignments, which have historically played a decisive role in Nigeria’s electoral outcomes.

At this stage, however, it would be premature to draw definitive conclusions. Nigerian politics is often characterized by fluidity, and alliances can evolve rapidly as elections approach.

The coming months will likely provide greater clarity on whether these individuals will re-engage actively within the APC framework or pursue alternative political paths.

In summary, the current situation reflects an unusual but not unprecedented phase in Nigeria’s political environment—one that underscores the importance of closely monitoring both visible actions and strategic silences among key political actors.
