Pipeline Security Drives Significant Growth in Nigeria’s Crude Oil Production – NNPC
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has announced a substantial increase in the nation’s crude oil production, marking a major milestone in the country’s energy sector recovery and growth trajectory.

According to the company, Nigeria’s crude oil output has risen from a historic low of 960,000 barrels per day recorded in 2022 to a current average of 1.71 million barrels per day, with peak production reaching 1.84 million barrels per day in 2025. This remarkable improvement reflects sustained efforts to stabilize and optimize production across key oil-producing regions.

NNPC attributed this growth primarily to the successful implementation of an integrated energy security framework designed to safeguard critical pipeline infrastructure in the Niger Delta. The initiative, which involves collaboration with government security agencies, host communities, and private security contractors, has significantly reduced incidents of pipeline vandalism, crude oil theft, and operational disruptions.

The company emphasized that enhanced surveillance systems, real-time monitoring technologies, and increased stakeholder engagement have collectively strengthened the resilience of Nigeria’s oil and gas infrastructure. These measures have not only improved production efficiency but also restored investor confidence in the sector.

NNPC further noted that the progress aligns with broader national objectives to boost revenue generation, support economic stability, and ensure energy security. The increase in output is expected to positively impact Nigeria’s fiscal position, foreign exchange earnings, and overall economic growth.

Reaffirming its commitment to sustaining this momentum, NNPC stated that it will continue to invest in advanced security solutions, infrastructure upgrades, and strategic partnerships. The company also highlighted ongoing efforts to promote transparency, operational excellence, and environmental responsibility in all its activities.

NNPC expressed appreciation to all stakeholders, including host communities, security agencies, and industry partners, for their continued support and collaboration in achieving these results.

The company reiterated its dedication to building a more secure, efficient, and globally competitive energy sector for Nigeria.
