INEC Chairman Explains Why Commission Rejected David ADC Faction

INEC Chairman Rejected David

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)

has provided a detailed and emphatic clarification regarding the Commission’s decision to reject the faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC)

Reportedly associated with David Mark. According to the Commission,

The action was taken strictly in line with constitutional provisions and established electoral guidelines, firmly dismissing allegations of political bias or partisanship.

In his statement, the INEC Chairman stressed that the Commission remains an independent and impartial institution, guided solely by the rule of law and its constitutional mandate to regulate political parties and electoral processes in Nigeria.

He explained that the rejection of the faction was not targeted at any individual or political interest but was based on clear procedural and legal deficiencies identified in the submission made by the group.

The Commission highlighted that political parties and their factions are required to adhere to specific regulations, including proper documentation, internal democratic processes, and compliance with statutory timelines.

Any deviation from these requirements, the Chairman noted, automatically renders such submissions invalid, regardless of the individuals involved or their political stature.

Addressing concerns from stakeholders and the public, the INEC leadership reiterated that its decision-making process is transparent and subject to legal scrutiny.

The Chairman emphasized that all political actors are treated equally under the law, and the Commission has consistently applied the same standards in similar cases in the past.

He further encouraged aggrieved parties to seek redress through appropriate legal channels rather than attributing administrative decisions to political motives.

The statement also underscored INEC’s broader commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions by ensuring that all political parties operate within the framework of the law.

The Commission warned that allowing irregularities or bending rules for any group would undermine the integrity of the electoral system and set a dangerous precedent.
In conclusion, the INEC Chairman reaffirmed that the Commission’s action against the ADC faction linked to David Mark was lawful, justified, and necessary to uphold the credibility of the electoral process.

He called on political stakeholders to prioritize compliance, internal democracy, and respect for institutional processes as Nigeria continues to consolidate its democratic journey.
