According to some unverified sources, it was alleged that after the 1978 judgement of Suit Number W/88/1957 and the Supreme Court judgement of S/11/1979 the itsekiris residing in Otegbo/Obitugbo Land were evicted in line with the various court judgement but it was during your tenure in 1999 that they gradually returned and were further emboldened during the tenure of Dr.
Emmanuel Uduaghan an Itsekiri man, though we can't authoritatively confirmed this information
As a highly respected figure in Delta State Chief James Onanefe Ibori recently spoke after the unfortunate incident that happened during the Ozoro festival and corrected some misconceptions about the Urhobo/Isoko tribe, it is also pertinent that Chief Ibori uses his influence to ensure that justice prevail in Otegbo/Obitugbo.
Otegbo/Obitugbo Land has been legally declared to be the property of the people of Oghareki in Oghara Kingdom and a Perpetual Injunction was granted restraining the itsekiris from ever contesting ownership of Otegbo/Obitugbo but today they are trying to do otherwise.
Chief James Onanefe Ibori should not turn a blind eye to a situation that could likely degenerate into breakdown of law and order if not properly handled. Wether Otegbo/Obitugbo is politically in Ethiope West or Warri North the court has declared that Political boundaries can not denied the indigenous people the ownership of their lands.
This is not a call on Chief James Onanefe Ibori to favor Yam over Plantain since he is related to both tribes but to use his influence to ensure that justice prevails.
