Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aligned with him to take immediate and strategic steps toward reconciling with aggrieved members who have defected from the party.
He emphasized the urgent need for proactive engagement, dialogue, and internal cohesion as critical measures for rebuilding trust and unity within the party’s ranks.
Wike stressed that restoring the PDP’s strength and credibility as a formidable opposition force is essential in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the party must not only focus on reclaiming lost members but also on strengthening its internal structures, promoting inclusivity, and presenting a clear and compelling alternative to the ruling party.
He noted that without deliberate efforts to address internal divisions and re-integrate key stakeholders, the PDP risks further weakening its position in Nigeria’s political landscape.
The minister further underscored that a revitalized and united opposition is vital for deepening democratic governance in the country.
He urged party leaders to set aside personal differences and prioritize collective interests, warning that failure to act decisively could undermine the PDP’s prospects in future electoral contests.
