APC Party Leadership Crisis

POLITICS

Hafsatu Danladi has formally declared herself the substantive National Chairperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC),

Intensifying the party’s ongoing leadership crisis and raising fresh concerns about internal cohesion ahead of future political engagements.

In a strongly worded statement, Danladi asserted that her claim to the chairmanship is rooted in what she described as constitutional legitimacy and adherence to due process.

She maintained that recent developments within the party’s leadership structure have deviated from established guidelines, thereby undermining the integrity and democratic principles upon which the APC was founded.

As part of her move to assert authority, Danladi disclosed plans to seek judicial intervention, indicating that she will challenge the legitimacy of the current National Working Committee (NWC) in court.

In addition, she called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw its recognition of the existing party leadership, arguing that such recognition perpetuates what she considers procedural irregularities.

Danladi emphasized that her actions are not driven by personal ambition but by a commitment to restoring order, transparency, and constitutional compliance within the party.

She warned that failure to address the internal disputes could further erode public confidence in the APC and weaken its standing in Nigeria’s political landscape.

The development adds a new layer of complexity to the APC’s internal challenges,
as factions within the party continue to express divergent views over leadership, governance, and strategic direction.

Political observers note that the outcome of this dispute could have significant implications not only for the party’s unity but also for its preparedness in upcoming electoral cycles.

As the situation unfolds, stakeholders within and outside the APC are expected to closely monitor both the legal proceedings and INEC’s response, which may ultimately determine the legitimacy of competing claims to the party’s national leadership.
