A Federal High Court has granted bail to prominent Nigerian cryptocurrency entrepreneur Linus Williams Ifejirika, widely known as Blord, following several weeks of detention at Kuje Correctional Centre.
Blord had been remanded in custody over allegations of impersonating popular social media commentator Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.
The case, which attracted significant public attention due to the high-profile nature of both individuals, centers on claims that the entrepreneur misrepresented himself in a manner that could mislead the public and potentially damage reputations.
During the bail hearing, the court considered submissions from both the prosecution and the defense before ruling in favor of granting bail under specified conditions, which were not immediately disclosed at the time of reporting.
Legal representatives for Blord argued that their client had cooperated with authorities and posed no flight risk, urging the court to allow him adequate opportunity to prepare his defense outside detention.
The development marks a significant turn in the case, which has sparked widespread discussions across social media platforms regarding digital identity, impersonation, and accountability in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving online space.
The matter has been adjourned to a later date for further proceedings, where the court is expected to examine the substantive issues surrounding the allegations.
