The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially released a revised timetable for its 2026 primary elections, introducing significant adjustments to the schedule earlier communicated to state chapters on April 20, 2026.

The updated timeline is aimed at ensuring a more coordinated and efficient nomination process as the party prepares for the forthcoming general elections.

According to the newly approved schedule, the primaries will be conducted as follows:

Friday, May 15, 2026 – House of Representatives Primaries

Monday, May 18, 2026 – Senate Primaries
Wednesday, May 20, 2026 – State House of Assembly Primaries

Thursday, May 21, 2026 – Governorship Primaries

Saturday, May 23, 2026 – Presidential Primary
The revised timetable is expected to provide clearer guidance for aspirants, party officials, and other key stakeholders, allowing for better planning and coordination as internal party activities intensify nationwide.

The announcement was made by the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro Meseko, following the conclusion of the APC’s 186th National Working Committee (NWC) meeting held in Abuja. He noted that the adjustments were necessitated by the need to accommodate changes in critical pre-primary processes.

According to Meseko, the updated timetable reflects the postponement of essential activities, including the screening of aspirants, the resolution of disputes, and the consideration of appeals arising from the screening exercise.

He emphasized that the party remains committed to conducting a transparent, credible, and inclusive primary election process.

Political observers note that the revised schedule underscores the APC’s strategic efforts to streamline its internal procedures while addressing logistical and administrative challenges.

As preparations gather momentum, party members across the country are expected to align with the new timetable to ensure a smooth and orderly primary election process.

The development marks a crucial step in the APC’s roadmap toward the 2027 general elections, as the party seeks to consolidate its internal structures and present a united front ahead of the polls.
